How can ovulation be determined?

Quite a few couples with an active desire to have children take ovulation test strips in order to gain more insight into their fertility state.

Whether a woman has had an ovulation in her respective cycle, can currently only be accurately determined with blood analysis or ultrasound. However, urine-based ovulation tests can indicate that ovulation is likely to occur in the course of 36 to 24 hours. Ovulation test strips work best with morning urine and when applied in the correct manner in respect to specific cycle days. Shortly before ovulation, the concentration of the luteinising hormone (LH) increases. This increase is relative to the previously measured daily value and is considered a marker for impending ovulation.
