Pre-Christmas with our newborn- a breathe ilo user talks about her routine
Now it’s finally christmas time
At the beginning of November our long-awaited baby came into the world and now we are finally experiencing the pre-Christmas time as a small family. That’s what we’ve been waiting for years. We are overjoyed that breathe ilo has made it a reality.
Although our little one is only a few weeks old, I have tried to integrate Advent rituals, which I know from my childhood, into everyday baby life.
So in the last week of November I decorated the apartment for Christmas. The balcony was decorated with a colourful chain of lights, a self-filled Advent calendar was hung up and of course an Advent wreath was bought.
Our pre-Christmas routine
Every morning we get up comfortably at 9/10 o’clock and after dressing we open the current calendar box together. I tell our darling what day it is today, what meaning the content has and how many days there are until Christmas, until our first big family celebration. It gives me a lot of joy to be able to pass on the traditions my mother gave me to my baby. Even though he is still very young, I want to give him the meaning of this wonderful pre-Christmas time.
We often spend our day walking and admiring the many great lights in the city! Christmas presents can also be bought on the side, as our boy likes the pram and feels very comfortable in the warm clothes.
1-2 times a week we go for a walk in the park and meet friends with baby at the Christkindlmarkt! Our little ones sleep mostly calmly in the pram and we girls talk about the new everyday life with baby with (non-alcoholic!) punch and chestnuts.
On the Advent weekends there is usually a lot going on and we visit many Christmas parties. At our big family event celebration the rest of the family could finally get to know their new family member in everyday life. We have a lot of fun putting on a great Christmas outfit for our love and going out with him. Like us, he seems to love company and always feels very comfortable! You can imagine that he is the star everywhere anyway.
We spend the Sunday mornings at home and celebrate our own little Advent party. We light the candles on the Advent wreath and sing along. That inspires our son very much! He loves to listen to us and shows it with his first smile! These moments are wonderful and I hope I will never forget them! It is like a dream that became reality.
The first Christmas together
Already in a few days our first Christmas together is coming up! We are very much looking forward to it! We celebrate together with my grandparents, parents and my sister in our holiday home. For us, the drive there will be already exciting, because we will be the first time longer on the way. But we absolutely want our son to get to know his great-grandmother and his great-grandfather, because the long journey to our home is no longer possible for them. So it will be a very special meeting.
Since the grandparents live in a ski area, we always have a white Christmas. Here again there is a first time: Our baby will see snow for the first time! I can hardly wait to walk through the Winter Wonderland and enjoy the time with the big family.
Although our baby is still small and I am sure that next year everything will be even more exciting for him and us, the first Advent season is something very special and even with a newborn beautiful and exciting! I would like to hold on to every minute and wish you all very much that you will experience these special experiences together with your own son/daughter next year!
